Living With PCOS: My Story

Wednesday, 9 May 2018

Educational post incoming!

Hi all, welcome back! Today I'm going to be talking about something that isn't within the usual niche of my blog, something which is more focused on health, specifically women's health. So, if that isn't really your thing, that's totally fine and I'll see you next time! I wanted to talk about this particular condition as not only is it not very well known (considering it affects a massive 1 in 5 women!), but it also happens to be something I've dealt with throughout my life as a teenager and well into adulthood. Like many others, however, I had never heard of the disorder and went by frustratingly trying to understand why I was different in more ways than one to other girls my age.

So, without further ado, let's jump into the very basics.

My Skincare Routine // DIY Spa Treat!

Saturday, 17 March 2018

Hello you gorgeous bunch! I'm back again with a blog post I've had planned for a looong time: my skincare routine. Day to day I usually apply a cleanser and moisturiser, but I won't deny that I will sometimes get lazy and splash my face with a bit of water, skipping the products altogether. The same goes for nightime: I always try to remove my make-up before I go to bed, even after a late night out (I get serious acne breakouts otherwise!) but I could definitely do better with the cleansing and toning.

However, at least once a week, I make the effort of giving myself some much needed tlc with an at-home facial. I started making this a habit as a way of just chilling out after a hard day, or even simply as a remedy for boredom, but overtime it's gradually ingrained itself into an important part of my skincare routine.

Having had acne throughout my teens to early adulthood, as well as dealing with the ramifications of the hormonal hell that is PCOS, my skin has been very prone to problems that made it difficult to find a product that works for me. My skin right now is definitely combination, maybe erring more on the side of dry than oily, and that means that sometimes my skin can appear clear and blemish-free (excluding the acne scars that become visible with a bare face), and other times it will resemble a literal greasy pizza with spots in the most awkward of places - the tip of the nose, middle of the forehead, smack bang on the cheek - I've had it all.

So, as a coping method for the complicated chaos that is my skin, I came up with this DIY spa-facial routine that leaves your skin not only looking great, but feeling great too. So, light some candles, stick on your humidifier, and play some soothing background meditation music, because it's time to get extra and give your skin the blissful treat that it deserves.

Going Marbles for Marble // Wrappz Phone Case REVIEW

Monday, 26 February 2018

The marble trend is making waves in the fashion and homewares industry right now, and the technology sector is no exception. With gorgeous marble make-up bags, duvet sets and other home items like clocks and lamps, to screen protectors for your Macbook, there is no limit to where this trend will go - and it doesn't appear to be disappearing any time soon.

A couple of years ago, I collaborated with to provide a review of their customisable phone protectors, and used a beautiful architectural design to make my phone stand out. I received a lot of compliments on it and it definitely saved my iPhone 5C from many falls and inevitable accidents.

I now have an iPhone 6s, and have been alternating between slightly boring and personality-less clear cases from Ebay, and quirky bulky cases from Wish made from cheap material, usually succumbing to their unavoidable end. So, when Wrappz contacted me again recently to post another review, I didn't hesitate in saying YES and taking a look at what their new collection has to offer.

Dreamy Sunset // Red & Gold Eyeshadow Tutorial

Friday, 23 February 2018

Hold up.. an ACTUAL beauty post?! Not another inspirational rant on self-improvement?

That's right.. I know, it's been absolutely ages since I last did any kind of make-up review/tutorial/appreciation post, but after I did my make-up so damn well for a recent special occasion I decided I must share it with you all.

Of course, I would like to again clarify that I'm no expert and don't claim to be. In fact, my make-up is usually average at best, but I suppose I've improved a lot over the last few years and learned a few new tricks along the way.

This look just kind of evolved as it went along. The only thing I had in mind was using colours like reds/golds/peaches on the eyes, and tried to use my memory of Youtube beauty guru tutorials on how to correctly apply it. However, I will try to outline what I did step-by-step, so that you can achieve this same dreamy look, kinda resembling a beautiful sunset!. I'd say these shades are the most flattering on blue eyes, but I'm sure they'd look awesome on any eye colour!

Without further ado, let's get started 💞
