Nanette Lepore's Spring/Summer Swimsuit Collection:My Fave Picks From The Show!

Monday, 29 April 2013

Need to inject a bit of sunshine into your Monday?

Look no further than Nanette Lepore's Sexy S/S Swimwear Collection!

Ok, so I'll admit, at first, I had no idea who Nanette Lepore was. It's pretty ironic, but for a fashion blogger, I don't know the names of every single designer, I'm not at all the fashion show events, and I'm not constantly looking out for upcoming trends.

Don't get me wrong, I love fashion. But, I guess, I like fashion in my own biased way - I will talk about trends that I like, rather than anything, just for the sake of a blog post.

When I do write about a current fashion trend, or new collection from a particular designer, however - you can be damn sure I like it!!

And this is the case with Nanette Lepore's latest show. I actually discovered the photograph above from Tumblr, and immediately fell in love with the whole outfit. I thought to myself - I've GOT to figure out who designed this!

And so I came across the rest of the designer's stunning collection from inserting the image into a Google search.

What really struck out to me from the swimwear collection was the girly floral prints and coral, peachy colours - I love the high-waisted bottoms and bandeu bikini tops, and I especially love how she added a cropped blazer to some of the sets. Beachy fashion has never looked so modern and chic!

Here are some of my favourite outfits from the show.

Catwalk

Definitely the one I would love to wear myself - beautiful floral print and high-waisted gorgeousness!
You can visit the whole collection of swimwear on the Nanette Lepore website.

What do you think of the collection? Would you wear any of these yourself?

Let me know in the comments - I love to hear what you guys think!

Have an awesome week everyone!

My Dress Addiction: "A Leopard Never Changes Its Spots" Dress #2

Sunday, 28 April 2013

This post is part of an ongoing series of my addiction to dresses and insight into my endless collection. Read the first post here.

Good evening Stylicias! It's finally the weekend - yay!

You may have noticed there was no post yesterday - for that I apologise! I ended up having quite a busy day, and actually spent most of it outside (shock horror) so didn't get the time to write a new dress addict post, or a Miss Friday's Fab Fridays. Not to worry though - I'm publishing this one on my day off, and as for the Fab Fridays, that might have to wait until next week!

Let's move on to dress number 2.... *drumroll please*

A Leopard Never Changes Its Spots..

The Story Behind It:

This is another fairly recent purchase, around about the start of April actually, and it's from one of my many favourite high street stores, H&M!

The name I chose,  "A Leopard Never Changes Its Spots", is pretty self-explanatory really, and let me warn you here first - you are going to be seeing a lot of leopard print dresses. Leopard print is another kinda 'obsession' of mine, so a mix of leopard print + a dress is an instant *gasp! I must have it!*

Anyhoo, I bought this whilst on a shopping trip in Liverpool with some friends. I hadn't really bought anything that day, though, and I didn't particularly want to leave empty handed (do you ever get that feeling after a shopping trip?) feels like such a waste of a day at the shops to go home with nothing!

But, at the same time, I didn't want to splurge too much money, so I had a quick look at the sale racks - and found this beauty! And for £7, it didn't seem too bad for the money :-)

Now, once I tried it on at home, I realised I'd bought a size too small (oops) and as you can probably tell, it's quite clingy!

Though, I do think it's part of the style of the dress, and is probably designed to be pretty figure-hugging. However, like with the dress in my previous post, I'm sure it's nothing tummy sucking pants can't solve!

Overall, I really like the dress, and I'd say it's pretty versatile - you could wear this in the day or night-time, and it's very easy to glam up with a gorgeous pair of heels!

My dress rating:

Cute dress, but again, I would like it to be a bit more flattering for all body shapes!

Is it just me or does H&M have a knack for making things in really small sizes?
I tried on a pair of size 10 shorts the other day and they were tiny!!

Leopard Print Long Sleeved Dress £7.00 (Sale item)
Fuschia Bow Platform Heels, £30, New Look

What do you all think of dress number 2? Do you love leopard print as much as I do?

Let me know in the comments!

Keep an eye out for dress number 3 - have an awesome weekend guys :-)

Help - I'm Addicted To Pretty Dresses! Dress #1 "Tell Me About It, Stud"

Thursday, 25 April 2013

Hi, I'm Emily, and I'm a dressaholic.

Good evening Stylicias! How's your Thursday going?

Last weekend, I had a thought.

"Why on earth do I own so many dresses?"

I don't know why, and I don't really know when it started, but ever since I even took an interest in fashion, I have been obsessed with dresses.

Some people are mad about shoes - others bags - but for me, I have a serious love affair with gorgeous dresses.

Ever heard of that film 27 dresses? That would be me, except I'm not sure I have exactly 27 dresses (I do hope not) and I don't own any bridesmaid dresses, but I do own a lot.

Whether it's party dresses, evening dresses, day dresses, whatever, I love them all. And for some reason, I can't stop buying them. I'm pretty sure I have something close to an addiction - I keep buying them, even though I don't get to wear them much (some I've only worn once so far!). But, rather than wallowing in self-pity and guilt over the amount of money I've spent on them over the years, I then had an idea.

Why not make light out of this whole situation and showcase my collection?

It's much better for me, and that ickling voice inside my head telling me I shouldn't be buying so many, to make a little fun out of it and myself, and share them all with you right here on my blog!

Besides, seeing as I've really gotta start saving up money to pay off my college fees, it would be a lot easier for me to play dress up with things I already own, rather than buying new stuff for 'outfit of the day posts' and taking photos of them.

This could help ease my obsession over time, help me save money, and remind me to appreciate everything I already own in my wardrobe! Let's begin!

Oh - and you all also get a detailed review for each dress, of course! I'm here to help ;-)

Tell me about it, stud!

The Story Behind It:

I got this dress quite recently, actually, and it's from one of my favourite online stores, Missguided!

I decided on the name "Tell Me About It, Stud" because, obviously, there's plenty of studs on the dress, but also in reference to the movie Grease. Remember that last scene, where Sandy dresses head to toe in leather and repeats those famous words to Danny? The leather down the middle of this dress kinda reminds me of her outfit!

As you can see, it's very clingy, quite tight, but a great, edgy dress nontheless! It's a bodycon style, and I got it in the sale as a 'treat' to myself for putting some money into my savings account that week.

Slightly defeats the point of saving money, but ah well!

I thought this dress would be perfect for clubbing, and I'm yet to wear it out, but it's pretty cosy and you can actually move in it, despite it looking otherwise!

The only bad thing I would say about it is the clinginess in the middle. Because it is so very tight in that area, and pleather, it's not the most flattering on your stomach, unless you're lucky and have a super flat tum!

Luckily, I'm sure this could be disguised with some of those tummy-sucking pants, but just a warning to any ladies thinking of buying it  - though it could look completely different on you, who knows!

 My dress rating:

Sexy dress, but could be more flattering!

Jenell Leather Panel Studds Bodycon Dress Size 10, was £27.99, now £16.79
Fuschia Bow Platform Heels, £30, New Look

So there you have it - the first dress of my continuum collection! What do you think of it?

Let me know in the comments - stay tuned for the next dress coming tomorrow!

Have a fab day everyone!

Wednesday Wishlist

Wednesday, 24 April 2013

Hey everyone!

So, I'm back at college this week, and as you're reading this I'm most likely in my lesson (this is being scheduled for Wednesday!) and you may have noticed there was no post yesterday. I realised that I'd most likely not be able to get 2 posts scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday in the space of one evening, and since I'm at college those days, I can never find the time to get some blogging done!

I'm sure you guys understand and aren't banishing me from the blogosphere forever  (I hope!! haha.)

On to this Wednesday's glorious wishlist!

  • Gypsy Multi Stone Ring I love the pink gems, I love gold, and I love rings. What more can I say? Rings are the one thing I can't leave the house without!
  • Love Vest I love slogan tee's, and I love this top! This would look awesome with a pair of black skinnies and cute pumps :-)
  • 'Sweet Dreams' Pillowcase Set These pillowcases are so cute and homey - I could see myself nodding off on these every night...
  • Dolce & Gabanna Sheep Skinned Lined Parker  Even though winter's technically over now, we can never be too sure what this English weather will bring, and a warm coat is ideal! However, it's not quite cold enough anymore to still be wearing my fur coat, so this sheep skinned one would be perfect. Plus I never got a chance to buy a parker coat last winter - would love this now!
  • Nivea Raspberry Rose Lip Butter and M'Wuah Split Lip Gloss  - My lips have been pretty dry recently, and I probably haven't helped that with constantly biting them! Nivea lip products are great though, I already own one of their lips balms, but I'm curious about this raspberry rose! And this lip gloss looks pretty cool - two colours in one tub!
  • Studded Sleeveless Jacket - Everything about this is perfection. Studs and black = yes please!!

That's what I'm wishing for this week Stylicias! Would you like any of these? What's on your own wishlists right now?

Have a great day and thanks for dropping by!

OOTD: Weekend Style

Monday, 22 April 2013

Hey guys!

Today's Outfit Of The Day post is going to be my outfit from Saturday - it was a pretty chilled weekend, and I just spent the day going for a nice pub meal followed by a trip to the cinema afterwards. I went to see Oblivion, and though I'm not usually into all that sci-fi stuff, it was a pretty decent film! (And Tom Cruise is still cute..)

I wanted an outfit that was quite simple for a relaxed day, so I just wore my everyday staple-piece leggings with one of my favourite leopard print peplum tops. As I've said before, I love peplum tops, and I got this one as a Christmas present from one of my friends! (She knows me all too well, and my love for leopard print, too).

It also has this really cute hole detailing at the back - and in general, it's an ideal top for this 'spring, not quite yet summer' weather we're having!

For my accessories, I didn't want to go overboard, so just kept it minimal with this lovely bracelet (also a Christmas present from the same friend)!
I'd had my eye on this beauty for ages, it's from Disney Couture, and says 'Have faith in your dreams'.
I love the message as it's a nice little reminder to have on your wrist, and the pink and gold makes it even prettier!

I don't really know why I pulled this expression here, haha! But, since my outfit was quite simple, I decided to have my make-up a bit more dramatic. I made my eyebrows a little fuller (using my eyebrow routine), drew a wing-eye for my eyeliner using Soap&Glory's Supercat, and used shades from the Naked 2 Eye Palette as my eyeshadow.

Oh, and a little blush on my cheekbones to brighten my pale complexion!

And that's pretty much it! Hope you all liked, let me know what you think in the comments ☺

What do you like to wear on the weekends? Do you dress up or keep it cosy and casual?

Have a fab week everyone!

Miss F's Fab Fridays: What I Loved This Week #6

Friday, 19 April 2013
The centre of my universe for the past week - my bedroom!
The weekend is finally here! However, I can't say that this week has been the most exciting for me. As I've mentioned a billion times in my previous posts, I've been feeling really ill, so spent the majority of it tucked up in bed with a bunch of tissues at my side. Fun times indeed!

Besides fretting about any college work I've probably missed this week, I have managed to get a fair bit of revision and blog work done. It's been surprisingly easier to schedule posts just by being cooped up inside all week - although I couldn't exactly do any 'outfit of the day' posts, I definitely had more than enough time to get things done a day in advance!

(Apart from today, however - I've let that 'day in advance' thing slip slightly, woops!)

Anyway, I'm glad to say that I am finally recovering at last, with just a bit of a cold still remaining. Feels good to be back to myself!

Here's my highlights from the past week..

Putting gold lights onto my picture frame - I've had these on my bed's headboard since Christmas, but decided to keep them and use them as 'fairy lights' for the meantime, and they look even cooler (they're gold, it's not christmassy!)
My new dress from Missguided. Since I put £70 into my savings account this week, I thought it couldn't hurt to treat myself to something in the sale - I love the leather and studs (full outfit post coming soon)
Half price Ben and Jerries. And a new flavour - Clever Cookies!
Ted, my neighbour's cute little ball of fluff I get to look after on a weekly basis.
Bubble baths. Need I say more?
The amazingly nice, sunny, and dare I say it, warm weather we've been having this week - and I didn't get to miss it all as I was actually well enough to leave the house today (yay!)
Out of the blue, nice compliments (thank you mum for brightening my day by telling me I have nice cheekbones ☺☺☺)
Youtuber Pewdiepie - if you haven't heard of him yet, look him up. I recently discovered him, and he makes hilarious videos of him playing horror games. Not something I'd usually be into, but he makes me cry with laughter. I could watch him for hours (if that doesn't sound too creepy)
Waking up in a good mood
My fur throw- so soft yet makes it so difficult for me to actually get out of bed!
My holiday to France in 83 days - our own villa and pool for two weeks, excited doesn't even describe it!
♥ Meet Sam the cat. He has eyebrows. Seriously! This little guy has made my night - so adorable!
♥ Instant win Creme Egg Mcflurries
This video about how we are all more beautiful than we think. Despite the brand Dove having something to do with it, it's a really inspiring, uplifting video. Give it a watch if you're feeling a bit down!

So that's just a summary of what's made me smile this week, guys - what's been a highlight for you?

Hope you all have an amazing weekend! xxx

Stay Cosy, Look Cute: The Best Pjs For Lazy Days!

Thursday, 18 April 2013

This week, as you all must know by now, I have been sick.

It's not been a particularly great experience - and honestly, blogging whilst I'm feeling like this has not been easy!

Luckily, I've managed to bounce off some of my previous ideas for future blog posts, and this has helped me somewhat in getting content out there despite my circumstances.

However, today, I have been struggling in coming up with something new - and something doable in my current state.

Make-up tutorial? I'm not looking my best right now, and I certainly don't have the energy in me to make the effort with putting make-up on and taking pictures! Same goes for outfit of the day posts - all I can manage to do right now is lie in bed in my pjyama top and joggers, so that's a definite pass.
Besides - I'm not going anywhere!

However, all of this got me thinking.

Don't you hate it when you're sick and feel absolutely gross?

We can't be bothered to do our hair, face, anything, and seeing as we want to be as comfortable as possible, this usually involves throwing on some baggy old pyjamas out of our wardrobe whilst we crawl back into bed and hope to feel better.

Today, I'm sporting the 'grey joggers and boring vest' look, and it just kind of dawned on me that I don't really have many pyjamas that are comfortable and look good at the same time.

I mean, yeah, we all have our cute sets of pjs, but are they really cosy? Even for sick days? That little silk night dress is most likely not. I bet all of your 'nicest' stuff is sat there in the back of your wardrobe, rarely ever used!

So, I have been inspired to go on the lookout for the cutest comfortable pyjamas, for your sick days, or just plain lazy days in general  - when you want to look good and feel good at the same time. You're welcome!

You can't go wrong with a onesie for a cosy night in - as well as being really in trend right now, there's a variety of different designs and styles out there for you to choose from. I particularly like these three from Boohoo.com - it would be impossible not to look cute dressed like this!

If you prefer a bit of room to breathe in your pj's, you might prefer some pretty shorts and vests - these leopard print fleece shorts look incredibly soft and comfortable, and this cute leopard  lace vest comes as part of a set - both from newlook.com.

Maybe you'd prefer not to stick to one design - mix and match with these gorgeous printed bottoms! Pair with a simple plain vest or tee and you're good to go.

If you're more into sets and playsuits, look no further! So many cute colours and designs right here!

Or, maybe you don't mind a bit of luxury nightwear from time to time - these beautiful nighties might be just for you!

So, those are my picks for the comfiest looking pyjamas. I've bookmarked some of them myself for possible future purchase!

What's your favourite thing to wear to bed? (Not like that - get your mind out the gutter!)

Hope you're all having a great week!
