OOTD: Neon Pink Pumps & Drop Hem Tank Tops

Tuesday, 28 May 2013

Good evening everyone!

How are we all? Hope you all had a great bank holiday weekend - I spent my Saturday out in the sun lapping up the lovely weather, and the entire Sunday nursing a hangover in bed!

This is my outfit from that Saturday, in fact, and I have to say, I really love it - the colourful shoes, light denim, and drop hem tank top all scream summer! - and I made sure this little assemble got worn whilst the sun decided to make a brief appearance for that day. :-)

I got the shoes and shorts last week in the sales, both for pretty good value - the shoes were reduced to £5 from H&M (bargain!) and the shorts are from a shop called Internacionale that was actually closing down, so instead of the usual £18 I would have paid for them, I got them for just £9.99!

As for the top, I actually bought this last summer but never got a chance to wear it much. It was probably about August by the time I actually got it, nearing September, but I decided to bring it back out again this weekend - it's just perfect for summer weather!

Oh, and the pumps conveniently match my bracelet and nails - how great is that?

Underneath the drop hem tank top, I always wear this little black bralet thingy.. that sounds so unprofessional, but I'm seriously not sure what the technical name for them is?! Haha, anyway, they're ideal for wearing underneath tops like these - you don't want to be bearing your full bra and these make good substitutes!

And of course, these could be worn on their own too - they're padded so do give you support, and I think they'd make really cute pieces to wear around the beach or wherever it's significantly hotter than England.

In case you're confused as to why my hair is now curly - this was taken pre-straighteners!
Oh - and a better view of the shorts :-)

So that's the outfit! Hope you all liked - let me know what you think!

What do you prefer wearing in the summer - shorts or skirts? Think I'm more of a shorts girl if I'm honest!

Have a great week everyone :-) kisses!

NAKED 2 Eye Palette and Purple Lip Combo!

Saturday, 25 May 2013

Hi Stylicias!

I know it's been absolutely ages again since I made a new post, but in my defence, I did have an exam this morning, and have another one to prepare for in about a week. I'm exhausted!

Anyhoo, here is photos of a little make-up look I put together that I've had scheduled for a few weeks.

When I really want to make a statement with my eyes, I'll always turn to my trusty Urban Decay Naked 2 Eye Palette. Even the lighter shades can create a dramatic look when paired with a bold lip - which is what I've done here!

I got the palette as a birthday gift from a very lovely friend, and honestly, it gets rave reviews for a reason. There's a variety of colours and shades to choose from, with shimmery hues and neutrals to suit your fancy - and of course they look their best when mixed and matched with each other!

Since I got the palette, I've created a few 'go-to' looks - I usually use the darkest shade Blackout for extreme smokey eyes on a night out, but for a more understated daytime look, I find a lighter grey smokey eye works a treat.

To begin with, I first apply my 'base' shade Foxy all over the eyelid. This is just a pale, almost white colour, but works well as a base for all other shades to be applied on top.

There is honestly so much choice with the Naked 2 palette that, honestly, I forget sometimes which colours and shades I put together! For this one though, if I remember correctly, I mixed a combination of Pistol and Verve. I'm going to take a guess and assume I applied Verve all over the base of the eyelid with the flat-side brush, then with the fluffy end, blended Pistol into the crease. The brush is also brilliant in this palette - the fluffy end of the brush is great for blending any shade into the crease for a natural, flawless look.

And to finish off the eyeshadow, I simply applied Bootycall right underneath the arch of my brow for a highlight, using the flat-sided brush for precise application. This shade is slightly similar to Foxy, except I think Bootycall is a little more on the gold side.

Now, for my second favourite part (I can't decide!), this purple/plum pigmented lipstick. Unfortunately I have no idea where this was from since my mum actually bought it for me, but I do remember it was part of a set, apparently cheap, and as clearly labelled, from a brand named Active I'm guessing!

Despite it being cheap, I actually think it's seriously good - it's soft, not too harsh or barely noticeable, and really goes well with many other make-up looks. I remember being pretty apprehensive to try this colour at first - I always assume the boldest colours will not suit me at all, but as usual I was pleasantly surprised!

Here are some other make-up looks of mine featuring the same lippy:

I particulaly love wearing this colour in the winter/autumn - it's the perfect dark shade!

Over time, I think the shade of this lipstick has lightened a bit - when I first started using it was a much darker plum colour, but when I take pictures of it now, it can come across as a light purple/pinky hue..either way though, I still love it!

What do you think of the (sort of) purple lip? Do you own a Naked palette?

Thanks for stopping by everyone - have a fab weekend!

OOTD: Comic Book Inspired

Saturday, 18 May 2013

BAM!

Hi Stylicias! ☺

At the moment, it's a dreary miserable Saturday, and I've spent the majority of my day doing, you guessed it, revision. Save me!!

Luckily, I have some outfit of the day pictures from a previous week, where it was much nicer and sunnier. God I miss it!

Because of the few days of warm weather we were blessed with, I was actually able to wear a crop top for the first time this year that I'd been wanting to wear for ages - it's just this little comic book style one from Primark, and for only £4.00, I couldn't resist it!

I decided to pair the top with these shiny black disco pants, mainly for the reason that they're high waisted. I don't know about anyone else but I'm definitely not comfortable with baring my whole tum just yet - in fact, I'd probably only wear crop tops with high-waisted bottoms or skirts!

And to make the most of the sunny weather, I decided to make sure these cute sunglasses got used asap - also from Primark, I absolutley love them! As well as being made from a soft velvety material, they also have  adorable tiny skulls on each end. And the lenses are a pinky/purple colour, which I also really like about them :-)

What do you think of the outfit? Do you like the comic book trend?

Do let me know - hope you're all having a nice weekend!

Miss Friday's Fab Fridays - Quick Catch Up!

Friday, 17 May 2013

Hi everyone!

As we all know, exams are the bane of my life right now, and since I know it's been ages since I've done a Fab Friday, I figured right now would be a good day to do it since I'm on a little break from making my head explode with revision!

It's been yet another stressful week, but the way I'm trying to look at it is that I'm just one more week closer to summer and my holiday to France (yay).

So, besides living on coffee the past week, here are the other things that have been getting me through!

This pretty lace dress from Hype - reduced to £12 from £20! I feel so girly wearing this.  Starbucks - I've been going quite often the past few weeks, and yesterday, despite my usual choice of a frappuccino, I actually tried my first Caffe Mocha. Nice, but still a bit too strong for me - I need my coffee sweet and milky! About a fortnight ago I bought a new chest of drawers for my bedroom (I'll put pictures up soon on my interior design blog) and I like how placing perfume bottles with my Chanel book has made it look so classy. Simple touches eh! Ted getting me through my boring days of revision. It's nice having a little buddy around for it all! Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky' - obsessed with this song, always gets me in a good mood ELLE magazine giving a free 'They're Real' Benefit mascara with every issue - for £4.00 I'd say that's a good deal! ♥

And because I forgot before, here's a photo from the lovely day I spent in London. I miss it and the weather so much!

Talking of things I miss, my long hair is one of them. This is from last October - it was so thick too!

Anyhoo, that's my week summed up! What's been a highlight for you?

Hope you all have an amazing weekend!

3 Reasons To Love DISCO Pants!

3 Reasons To LOVE Disco Pants!

Good evening Stylicias! Hope you're all having a chilled out Sunday. :-)

Today, I want to talk about my love of disco pants. If you're not familiar with this huge current trend already, let me sum it up for you - it's a fashion trend coming back from the disco era (obviously) and, well, the pants are just really really shiny!

They come in so many colours and styles, there's an endless variety to choose from to suit your style. Since I'm not quite brave enough yet to be wearing bright blues or reds, I opted for a safe black pair - but they're equally as gorgeous, as you can see!

If you're thinking about buying some, or can't yet make up your mind over whether you're crazy about them, let me help you by sharing my top 3 reasons why they should be an item in every girl's wardrobe - and why I love them in general.

1. They're Flattering!

I was actually a bit skeptical about buying these at first - because of how clingy they seemed, I was worried they'd cling to any unflattering bits, but I was wrong! As they're high-waisted, they have some extra supportive material around the waist area, so it kinda conceals any bit of tummy or muffin top you might have. I'm not the skinniest and they work well for me so I'd definitely recommend!

2. They Look And Feel Amazing!

Bored of wearing the same old boring black leggings? Upgrade to a pair of disco pants. I was pleasantly surprised with these - they actually feel just like leggings when you wear them, so as well as looking fab, they're seriously comfortable too! I was under the impression I wouldn't be able to move around in 'em, but it's just like having a pair of tights on. And, well, the high shine just makes them a hell of a lot prettier than normal leggings.

3. You can wear them with almost ANYTHING!

More so if you buy a black pair, these beauties will go with near enough everything you want it to. Crop tops, baggy tee's, you name it. There is no end to their versatility! Goodbye are your days of not having a clue what pants to wear with what..
                                                                Look at that shiny bootay!

And my make-up for the day - nice and simple with a bit of blush and mascara ☺

And yep, as you can probably tell, I couldn't be bothered with my hair that day, haha..

And if you'd like to know what nail polish I'm wearing - Barry M Flamingo Pink!

Side note: I should also add, before you're thinking of buying the same ones I'm wearing, the seams on one of the back pockets has actually come off - after just one day of wearing them! I did pay £15 for them but couldn't return them as I lost the receipt. :( I still like them though!

What do you think of disco pants? Do you own a pair?

Let me know what you think in the comments!

Have a gorgeous week everyone.

OOTD: FLEATHER - Floral Print & Pleather!

Thursday, 9 May 2013

Fashion trends I love this summer:
Floral Print

Hey guys!

Before I immediately jump into my new-but-not-quite outfit of the day post, I'd like to first apologise for my absence this and last week - I've been insanely busy with college work and revision seeing as exams are approaching very very soon, and if you've seen my Twitter lately, you'll know that I was in London for the first time ever on bank holiday Monday, which was an amazing experience (but I shall tell you all about that in a future post!).

I'm going to try my best to keep updating as regularly as I can, but I can't make any promises. Unfortunately, for now, revision and exams are going to have to take top priority in my life (yay) until they're over for the summer. But fear not - I have plenty of outfit photos planned for upcoming weeks!

As anyone else living in the UK will know, we've had some really great weather this week (exluding the rain today of course ☹). Luckily enough, the day I went to London was probably the best day there was, seeing as it was 20 degrees (!) and the sun was shining beautifully throughout the entire day.

I actually wore this top on the day, too, but with disco pants instead of the pleather skirt - I got no photos of that outfit unfortunately but this will be from the Tuesday before college. Enjoy!

As soon as summer begins I always get the biggest urge to bring out anything and everything floral printed I can find in my closet. Unfortunately, I'm kinda lacking in summer clothes at the moment (why I own so much black clothes I'll never know!). However, stuffed far behind at the back of all my wintery jumpers, I found this pretty blue petal dress I bought a few years ago from New Look - I've had it for so long, yet never really worn it that much.

I decided I'd try and be a little inventive with it, though - instead of wearing as a dress, I thought it'd look pretty cool to tuck it into my high-waisted pleather skirt instead. I'd have never thought to pair floral print with leather before, but I really like the look it creates - kind of an edgy yet girly, summery style!

What's your fave summer trend for 2013? Thoughts on floral print and pleather combos?

Let me know what you think in the comments :-)

Have a beautiful week!
