Bye Bye, 2014

Hey everyone! How are we all enjoying the new year?

I know this post is coming a little late as we're already 2 days in to 2015, but something quite eventful happened today that I felt I needed to get off my chest and write about here.

First of all, I'd just like to wish everyone a (very late!) merry Christmas and happy new year. I hope you all got what you wanted and got a little too drunk when the clock struck twelve. ;-)

Anyhoo, today I unfortunately lost someone very close to my heart. My dog Honey was very unwell last night - she's had cancer for a while now, we almost lost her a few months ago - but things took a turn for the worst and we had to call the vets round this morning to put her to sleep.

Luckily she had a long and happy life and wasn't in too much pain when it was her time to go. It was still a very sad time for all of us, though, and I for one am going to feel her absence in my life for a long time.

I don't think anyone else apart from those who have owned dogs, or pets, in the past will understand how it feels to lose one. They give you unconditional love, and Honey was with me from childhood to adulthood. I grew up and she grew old.

2014 was a hard year and eventful year for me, full of extreme highs and lows. I've had to say many painful goodbyes, and after today I hope this will be the last one I have to make for a while.

Here's to a better year ahead - and no more looking back.

“A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water logged stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if you're rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?”
