My Bedroom

Monday, 9 October 2017

If you've been an avid reader of my blog for some time, you'll know that I created a separate domain specifically for all things interior-design. As you can see, however, it's turned into an online graveyard over the past few years, and so I vowed to keep things simple by posting everything from Emilicia Style going forward.

It had been so long since I'd written an interior design post that I really missed talking about all things decor. I actually had plans to write about my student bedrooms, but sadly never got round to it due to the workload. And as you can see, the last 'bedroom tour' post of mine is severely outdated, as well as drastically different to how my current bedroom looks now!

So of course, an update was absolutely necessary, especially now that I'm living back at home and have given my room a much-needed makeover.

Summer '17: A Recap in Pictures

Monday, 4 September 2017

As we wave goodbye to the Summer, I've already been thinking about what kind of resolutions I'd like to make for next year (bit early, I know). I guess, for the moment, I'm entering a period of retrospection now that a few things other than the season of sun has come to an end. After studying all throughout the summer (minus a small 7-day break in the Greek Islands) I have finally finished university. With this also marks the end of torturous stress and unorganized chaos, constant financial dread, and the small glimpse of independence I experienced living away from home.

Rather than looking at everything as the end of a chapter, I've decided to re-frame it as the beginning of another. A chance to re-gain that independence, spend more time with family and friends, and focus on my own personal goals. Perhaps revisit the hobbies I often neglected during my obtainment of a degree (such as writing, reading, blogging), as well as improve my physical (and mental) health by pursuing what makes me feel joy.

I'm taking baby steps, one of them being this blog post - where I've decided to provide a nice little recap of my summer in pictures (whilst making it somewhat related to fashion and beauty!). I've mainly written this for my own enjoyment - to bask in the memories I've made over the past few months and avoid the miserable melancholy that accompanies the cold weather - but maybe it can provide some entertainment for you, too.

YOUR STUDENT NIGHTS JUST CHANGED FOR THE BETTER: INTRODUCING IMPULSE NORTH

Thursday, 26 January 2017

I don't know about you, but I can't remember the last time I had a really good night out in my student town. Wherever we decide to go, there always seems to be something better going on somewhere else: better music, better drink offers, better themed nights in general...and by the time you actually find out, it's the morning after whilst browsing through the photos you're not tagged in on Facebook - adding a nice bit of FOMO to your pre-existing hangover!

Thankfully, there may finally be a solution to all of this. Three lads from my university (University of Central Lancashire, located in Preston, for specifics) came up with the brilliant idea of Impulse North: a website that allows you to see where the best clubs, pubs, and bars are hiding, and tailors each venue to a certain night in the week so that you'll never miss out on 2-for-1 cocktails again.

Why My Vlogs Aren't Public

Wednesday, 18 January 2017

*Time for a gruelingly personal and realistic blog post! Sit yourself down for this one!*

As you might have guessed from the title of this post, I have 'vlogs'. Well, sort of. I have been watching various Youtubers vlog their lives for a few years now, so much so that I've pretty much replaced watching TV with this activity (and even Netflix, occasionally). There's something so satisfying about watching people live their happy little lives, swooning over their fortunes and success (and obviously, appreciating the cute animals: I'm 50% more likely to watch a vlog if there's a dog in there somewhere).
